A Happy New Year to all of you!  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and stay nice and warm.

I want to take this time to thank all of you for all your support.  I wouldn't be able to do half the things I do with the children without it.   All your contributions, time and materials, are greatly appreciated.  It's wonderful for me to be part of a team that cares so much for their children.

After the holidays we will study about winter and the five senses.

We will do some experiments with snow...if it lasts.

We will also continue Readers' Workshop.  This becomes one of the children's favorite parts of the day.

Again, thank you for all your generosity and help-I hope the season brings you and your family everything you wish for.

Pajama Day

Tomorrow is pajama day, frogs will go into hibernation.

The children do not need to bring snacks, we will have hot chocolate and animal crackers.

HELP PLEASE

We need large brown paper grocery bags to send projects home.  Please try to send them back and we will reuse them.

Thank you to everyone who sent something in to decorate the gingerbread cookies.  You are all invited to help decorate on Thursday at 12:30.

Gingerbread Cookie Decorating

We will be decorating cookies next Thursday at 12:30.  Parents and younger siblings are invited.  I could use two cans of low fat vanilla frosting and some candies for decorating.  If you are able to send something in, please do so by Monday, that way Nurse Lily can give me her approval.  No nuts or nut oils please.

Winter is coming!

Snow is coming soon.  Please be aware that kindergarten students need to wear snow pants and boots on the playground.  Please have them dress warmly because we try to go out everyday.  You do not have to send an extra pair of shoes because they can wear their P.E. shoes. (lighten that backpack)

Friendly Reminder

Wednesday is an early release day.  Kindergarten students will be dismissed with the whole school at 12:50.

Future Career Day

Tomorrow the children may dress up as they would in their future careers...doctors, race car drivers, chefs.

Friendly Reminder

Thursday, November 7th is an early release day for parent conferences.

Friday, November 8th is a day off for children.  It is a teacher workshop day.

Monday, November 11th is a day off for all to celebrate our veterans.

Some activities we did this week were:

Practicing writing lowercase c, o, and s on the ipad and in our handwriting books.
We stamped the word and so we will be able to make a "people" story next week..
We made abb patterns as we decorated our turkey hats, practiced weaving, made turkeys and played a turkey 10 frame game.
Next week our sight word is is, handwriting  lowercase letters are v, w, and t.
Our phonics sounds are s and z.  Last week it was short u.

Important Dates

November 26-Thanksgiving program at 12:30. (families are invited)

November 27-29 Thanksgiving break

December 2- Our day to shop at the book fair, parents are invited to come and help at 10:10.  No worries though, if you can't come we make a wish list for them, and I do explain what a wish list is!
